Getting started with implementing privacy solutions

How do we get started?

Send me a note and we’ll set-up a short conference call to establish your requirements and the scope of the initial assessment. I will try to ascertain how you are doing things now and what you want to achieve. The most common request I receive is for help with assessments, inventories and ROPAs. We will work together to identify the tool[s] you want to use and what additional steps are required to turn these tools into ‘solutions’. They are not the same thing.

Here are some other questions that I think you might like to ask.

How much do you charge?

We can quote by the hour, day, or give a fixed fee. It really needs a conversation to understand whether you need help in configuration (which is fairly quick) or whether you need full project support actually training and supporting your users. Lower rates are given for longer-term engagements.

Do you only help with OneTrust?

OneTrust probably has some of the best privacy software available right now, but there are others which we can help with.

Are you trying to sell us software?

As a OneTrust Partner we can sell you OneTrust software but it’s generally better for you to use us to help you identify which modules you need (and those you don’t)…then purchase directly from OneTrust. We can put you in contact with people we like in OneTrust.

Don’t OneTrust provide free support?

OneTrust will provide some support services and you should use them. However, they are fundamentally a software provider whilst we offer implementation services. Buying and configuring the software is fairly easy, but successfully embedding it into your business and getting them to love it takes time and experience.

Is this work conducted in-house or virtually?

All work is done virtually. Zoom meetings held when necessary. Given the current Covid 19 situation, we do not visit client sites.

Can you help us with training and support materials?

We can produce user guides, videos, PowerPoint presentations and SharePoint content to help you to roll-out your modules. We would advise you to do as much as you can yourselves but can support you.

Do you give legal advice?

No. If you want a company to give legal advice then you need a law firm as they are insured for it.
